Happy Hump Day, hope you all are fine and dandy this Wednsday. I`m doing fine just having a little melt down on what to do with my looooong old trencher,so I`m calling on all you prim gals to give me some ideas,I seem to have run out. I love it so, but it is such a long one that it does not fit just anywere. We bought it when we were holidaying out West years ago, camping along the way, sight seeing and antiqueing, stopping whenever there was a antique store and let me tell you there were many, aahhhhh. We were camped by this wonderful little town of Vernon,B.C. and popped into one of the stores there, well, it was love at first sight, wanted this trencher badly. Well, Cam said I don`t think we have room in the truck,we were packed up pretty tight, my heart sank. We went back to our campsite and I was feeling a little sad, all I wanted was that beautiful old trencher. The next day we were packed up and on our way when we pulled up in front of that antique store, well, I looked at Cam with a big smile and he said o.k., we will make room, go buy it. I ran in there, right up to the trencher that was still there, yey, and brought it up to pay,$75.00 later I was the proud owner of this old trencher, the lady said that it`s from Belgium, but all I cared about that it was coming home with me. I had it on the table with pumpkins in the fall, pine boughs in winter then finally put in under my church pew with pinecones, me loves me pinecones, I pick them up whenever there around, just me,LOL,and there it has stayed. Now I would like to do something differant with it just not to sure what,so any suggestions from you would be great, thanks for stopping by, Warm Blessings Francine.
Hmmmm Francine you could send it to me..smile..I adore old trenchers.I have mine in the old blanket cupboard the only thing on the shelf.I normally put gourds in it.I used to put one on the farm table but found it became a catch all for mail and such which I didn't like. The trip sounds like you had a wonderful time.Warm Blessings!~Amy
ReplyDeleteFor the fall I agree with Amy on gourds. You could also dry some big sunflower heads and put a bunch in there, that would look so neat I think. Other than that maybe some summery bowl fillers, watermelon perhaps?
ReplyDeleteKendra
oooo, grow some egg gourds to dry for an Easter display. Sorry, that just hit me after I hit publish LOL!

Well right now I have 3 battery prim candles in mine filled with potpourri and orange slices. Yours is beautiful too..so glad you were able to fit it in your car. Take care, Janice
ReplyDeleteIt is so neat! I love it! How about some homespun rag balls? I think those are always cute. You can put potpourri and bowl fillers in with them. I can't wait to see what you decide. I love the story that went along with it.
ReplyDeleteBe blessed!

Francine that is an awsome trencher! Looks a little like mine. I bought mine 18 years ago for 40.00. I do a lot with mine.I have it on my blog with 2 pots in it...simple. I have used rolling pins, stacked smaller prim bowls in it, gourds, prim dolls, old candle molds, ? I hang it up sometimes too.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!

I like trenchers and such filled with anything natural, especially gourds. Whatever you use you can't go wrong with a piece like that!
ReplyDeleteHi Francine,
ReplyDeleteJust LOVE the trencher!! All the ideas are wonderful and I would like to give you a few more....
Anything in multiples would work great!
Cloth pears, cloth apples, cloth veggies, cloth strawberries, cloth pumpkins....you see the theme here, right? lol A group of sock cats, small primitive dolls, old wooden kitchen tools like butter paddles, rolling pins, spoons, old graters, cookies cutters, folded pieces of coverlet or old quilt or fabric pieces, or old sewing items!
Phew!! And lastly, an old wooden goose or bird, with some raffia for a grass nest, or some pots of geraniums!
Anyway, now you have LOTS of ideas, so HAVE FUN!!!
Warm Hugs~~
