WINTER WHITE

Morning Prim Folk,  wow!!!! we had a snowy blowy weekend and cold. Saturday woke to blizzard like conditions, not good at all.  Lasted through out the day, then  poor Cam went  out  to snow blow, took him  2 hours.  So we did not venture out to far, the roads were not nice, but did manage to go to Old Navy with my gift cards I received for Christmas. There was a great sale on, bought myself a ski jacket and 2 pair of jeans, then back home sweet home.  Yesterday starting putting away the Christmas decorations slowly for another year, just goes way to fast for me. Took some pictures of the birds outside and all the feeders, birdbath, trees wearing snow................ Wishing you all a wonderful day, Winter Blessings Francine.

PRETTY OLD PINE CONE ORNAMENTS

Greetings Prim Folk,  hope you are all well this Saturday morning, enjoying the spirit of Christmas.  I am  sitting enjoying a hot cup of coffee with just the Christmas tree lights shining,  so pretty........................... Over the years I collected these beautiful  old pine cone glass tree ornaments,  I treasure them so.   My S-I-L  gave me my first one many years ago, a pretty gold one,  I was in love.  I started  hunting them down at Thrift stores, Antique shops and Rummage sales, anywhere I could.  Was lucky enough to come across many of them in different  colors  and sizes for  so little money. One year at a Thrift Store I was looking around and Cam came up to me and said, what about these, I looked in his hands and could not believe it, here was a worn box filled with the old pine cone glass ornaments, be still my beating heart, all  for the the price of $1.25, I did the happy dance all the way out of the store.  Now, I cannot find them anywhere and if I do they are priced at $15.00 each or up.  I use to hang them on my Christmas tree loving the look of these vintage pine cones decorating the tree till one year I broke one, my heart sank. So now I keep them safely in a old glass jar where I can admire them all year long......................Wishing you all a wonderful day, Winter Blessings Francine.

POPCORN BALLS

Morning Prim Folk, well,  5 more sleeps till the big jolly Elf himself slides down the chimney,  is everybody ready?    Me, not so much, but I am going to wrap the presents  today,  put on the Christmas music and get that done.............. Yesterday  I made my annul Christmas popcorn balls, so yummy and easy peasy, that's  another reason  why I make them.  I don't do a lot of baking anymore, not like when my son was small, plus I would eat it all, no will power for sweets.    The recipe for these popcorn balls is from none other then Martha Stewart, I am a huge fan.  I really enjoyed her T.V. shows when she was just starting out, making more simple things to craft and eat.  Now, I don't even have a channel that broadcasts her show, oh well,  guess I can go her website.........I will share the recipe......................
4 Tablespoons  unsalted butter,   1 bag miniature marshmallows,     1/4 cup brown sugar,     3 quarts popped  popcorn,    1 cup candy-coated chocolate   (optional )          Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.     Melt butter in  a heavy-bottomed pot over low heat.    Add marshmallows and brown sugar, stir until melted and combined.       Remove from heat.     Add popcorn and candies, if desired, toss until well combined. With buttered hands, shape into 2 1/2 inch balls. Let harden slightly on lined baking sheet.    Enjoy,  wishing you all a wonderful day, Warm  Blessings Francine.

MERRY TUESDAY

Morning Prim Folk,  hope all is well in your neck of the woods.  The weather has been milder, whew!!! but snowy. Won't last, will be back to the deep freeze tomorrow with very cold wind chills, throw another log on the fire kinda cold, :)....................Saturday went and picked up a tree at a tree lot, was so cold so we didn't linger to try and find the perfect tree plus they are all tied up and skinny so hard to tell what they would look like,  I don't mind not picking the perfect tree anyway.  Bought a  Balsam,  sure is a nice tree, the smell is so wonderful.  I  like  to decorate with a assortment  of ornaments, from the old Shiny Brights to handmades, to family ornaments  we had on the tree when I was small,  sweet memories.   I also like just the white lights  and my Sister bought me years ago  strings of bell garland that I love, so  that is my tree for 2013, love it....................Yesterday my Sister popped in, always nice to see her and she stayed for supper, then my Girlfriend came over with Dean, oh my, he is quite the little man. Talking up a storm, can say anything, so smart, his 2nd Birthday is Wednesday, the same day as my Girlfriends.  It will be her first Christmas  without her Husband, she still misses him so much.........................Wishing you all a great day, Warm Blessings Francine.

TREE TIME

Good Morning Prim Folk,  yay!!!! Friday is here and I am off this weekend, so time to go out and bring home a Christmas tree.   We usually go and cut our own down but with the weather soooooo cold,  I think we will venture to one of the many tree lots around the city. I have to have a real pine tree for Christmas, just one of those traditions I cannot break, since my childhood to now, need that real tree, would not be Christmas with a fake one.  But I do have a wee skinny tree I put in up  in the living room early, I do like this prim tree but will not take the place of the pine, the smell of pine in the house  is what Christmas memories are made of........ Angel is all ready for Santa to, she has been a good girl all year long........................Wishing you all a warm wonderful weekend, say that tree times fast, :) Blessings Francine.

MERRY WEDNESDAY

Morning Prim Folk, still stuck in the deep freeze here but it's cold everywhere it seems, Ole Man Winter is back with a vengeance. Never the less,
I am venturing out into the mall this afternoon to do some Christmas shopping, should not be to bad during the week, I am hoping. Will try to enjoy, take in the sites and sounds of the Holidays,  might even wave to Santa if I see him...... Speaking of Santa, I   received  this wonderful prim Santa  on a old bobbin in the mail the other day, love him so.   I ordered him from a fellow Canadian blogger at Heritage Homestead De'cor, her name is Darlene, talented gal and a sweetie. Nice  that she is also in Canada, don't find all that much primitive goodness around these parts, so was excited to find her and a Merry Christmas to me!!!!................Keep Cozy, enjoy  the day, Warm Blessings Francine.

TORTIAIRE MEAT PIE RECIPE

Greetings Prim Folk,  Happy Monday to you all............Well, I got the secret family recipe out of Cam for the Tortiaire   meat pie some of you were interested in, so here is the recipe he gave me.
French Canadian Tortiaire Meat Pie,            1 lb beef, 1 lb pork, mix / cook together,      1/2 teaspoon onion salt,  1/2 teaspoon allspice,  salt and pepper to taste.                6 medium potatoes, cook / mash with milk and butter,  mix meat ingredient, spices and potatoes together.  Ready for a cooked bottom pie crust, 10 minutes at 350 degrees in oven.     Fill the cooked pie crust and add top pie crust, poke holes on the top crust with fork,  bake at 350 degrees for another 10 minutes till golden brown, so yummy, enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!       Warm Blessings Francine.

CHRISTMAS IN THE TRENCHERS

Morning Prim Folk,  really really frigid weather here, minus 40 with the windchill, oh ya, we are a hearty breed here in Manitoba, or dare I say stupid, :).........Came home from work yesterday afternoon and decided to do a little decorating with some  natural ceder greens in the wood trenchers. In the very long trencher I  put in a wooden white goose my Brother made me one Christmas, love it so, added greens and  pine cones.  The shorter trencher more ceder then put in  wooden painted Santa faces  along with  grungy wax oranges, went for a simple look.  A little more decorating for the holidays and the tree then  I guess I will call it quits, I think................Also when I came in from work, Cam had two Tortaire meat pies cooking, oh ya, yummy, one for supper, one to bring to my Sister's for Christmas day.  They are so tasty, made with pork/ beef mixture and mashed potato's, then baked in a pie crust. It is a  old French Canadian recipe,  Cam told me it was  a Christmas Eve tradition with his family. After Midnight Mass, family and friends would meet at his parents  farmhouse and that's what they would enjoy coming in from the cold, hot Tortaire meat pie, mmmmm, I really enjoy it to....................Wishing you all a great day, Stay Cozy, Blessings Francine.

CHRISTMAS DISHES

Morning Prim Folk,  Happy Hump Day to you all!!!! Snowy, blowy here today and   the cold is on it's way to, dipping way down with a biting wind chill,  good time to snuggle in and stay toasty................ Yesterday I  took out my Christmas dishes to use through the month of December. I like to use them everyday,  I think  they are so pretty and plus my Mom and Dad gave the set to me one Christmas in the 90'S. I fell in love with this pattern called Christmas Pleasure so they bought a set for me one Christmas and then every year after that I would receive a piece in that pattern like a tea pot, cream/sugar, salt/pepper shakers, so that I have all the settings  for the table. They are so special to me, then  I came across these beautiful plates called Merry Christmas by the Johnson Brothers  at a church rummage sale, love their dishes. Then at a Antique store I came across these beauties, love the pictures on them both, one called Winter Holiday, another Johnson Bros, the other one Winter, Shakespeare's Sonnets, HOW LIKE A WINTER HATH MY ABSENCE BEEN FROM THEE. THE PLEASURE OF THE FLEETING YEAR, so beautiful.  A little dish my sweet MIL gave me for I loved the old horse and sleigh winter scene on it, called Canadiana would you believe, a treasure now  for she has passed.  I adore picture plates and that's why you will find me looking through old dishes wherever we go, thrift stores, yard sales, hoping to find another treasure.............Wishing you a wonderful day,  welcome  to all the new followers, Warm  Blessings Francine.
