Morning Primfolk, hope this Sunday finds you all well and looking forward to a New Year...........Overcast here in Winnipeg this A.M., more snow on the way perhaps???..........Well, my little roadtrip yesterday was a bust, loved the trip out, pretty scenery, saw two beautiful deer in the pines, always enjoy a drive in the country, winter, summer, anytime........but when we came to Lockport, no Antique store to be found, say what!!!!...........funny, asked around, no one knew of a Antique store, felt like I was in a Twilight Zone movie............One of my Sister`s was at one named The General Store not long ago, said it was wonderful, full of goodies, she emailed me the time it was opened and closed and a Boxing day sale happening, oh bother........... We drove around, no nothing........well, thats that.......came back to home turf, stopped for lunch then hit a Thrift store, guess that will have to do today, found a few little things, cute enamel white egg cup, small tin of cutters, flicker candle and a gravy boat with plate, love Johnson Brother dishes, such wonderful scenes they put on their dishes, it has a chip but oh well, me loves it still, for a buck, I`ll give it a home.........so thats all folks, wishing you a good day, keep cozy, Blessings Francine.
I love Johnson Brothers.

That's disappointing about the antique store. But you still got a nice outing of the deal! Love the Gravy Boat dish. Very quaint.
ReplyDeleteOh, I too love Johnson Brother dishes. I can visualize paperwhites planted in this gravey boat covered with a bit of green moss. We received another six inches of snow over night, tis winter in Maine. Greetings, Julie.
ReplyDeletethe gravy boat is nice.
ReplyDeleteThat is too bad that you didn't find the shop..we have been on wild goose chases like that too..it is disappointing. Happy New Year!! :)

ReplyDeleteGreat find on the gravy boat. A chip or two never bothers me. I love Julie's idea.
Hugs :)

I like the pattern on the gravy boat... I'm your newest follower and rss subscriber...
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the road trip, but I really like the tin of cutters. Cute!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to see your trip was a bust, but you did find a few goodies. Love Johnson Bros. china! Happy New Year! Janice
ReplyDeleteOh no! Glad you got to see the deer though and that gravy boat is beautiful even with the little chip.
ReplyDeleteFrancine I have that whole set of dishes in that pattern!!! It was my mothers set! My sister bought it for her for Christmas when she was in high school in the 50's.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Francine
hi Francine. sorry its been so long and i hope your holidays have been nice. its such a whirl wind then done. my kids were home christmas eve and left christmas day about 5 as they all worked the next day. i started putting christmas away so i can be done and start something else. i have never seen an enamel egg cup! love it and also i can never turn down transferware. its beautiful! we barley have snow but sure has been cold sitting right about 0..enjoy your evening Francine!!
ReplyDeleteI would be disappointed too..Maybe next time. Not many thrift stores around here but we do like to go to the Tueesday night auctions when we can...always able to get some goodies there. Take care and have a wonderful 2013
ReplyDeleteOh I hate when things like that happen. You went to all of that trouble and what you went looking for is gone.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful New Year. With lots of road trips and lots of wonderful finds.
Oh no but at least you had a scenic trip. I drove about 45 minutes yesterday to check out two thrift shops, nothing, however there was a discount grocery store there so it wasn't a complete waste. I'm dying to go down to Amish country today but I'm not sure about the weather, it's been snowy and icy here the past few weeks so I may not load the kids up for an adventure. Next week it's due to be in the 40's! Yay, my Christmas decor will unfreeze so I can bring it in. Anyhow, take care Francine!
