RUMMAGE SALE BUYS
Greetings Prim Folk, Happy Saturday to you all...... Last evening I went to a Rummage sale with my Sister, it was near her home so we picked her up to join us. We were one of the first people there so was nice to look without banging into people plus had first dibs on the goodies. I was a little dejected at first, went around all the tables and my hands were empty. Went to the last table and spied a sweet hooked chair pad with a house on it, for $5.00, yup, grabbed it. Then spotted a old chocolate egg shaped mold with a sweet flower pattern on it for $3.00, yup, bought that too. Still looking and found these child's wood sock stretcher or dryer, forgot what they are called, for $8.00, hard to find the smaller ones, they will hang with the other set I have. Came across this Root Mason jar with zinc lid for $2.00, cannot believe the great prices the lady had on these treasures. Then I spied another neat piece, the lady told me it is Red Ware, from the 1800's and was used to bake a cake in, how interesting, love it even more now and it is much lighter then a old stoneware bean pot. So for $5.00 I had to have this Red Ware treasure. If any of you antique knowledgeable gals know about Red Ware and if that is what it was used for would greatly appreciate it. So happy I went to the sale and really happy with my treasures all for the price of $23.00, Blessings Francine.
That Red Ware looks like a wonderful bean pot, the kind the old ladies in the church used to make baked beans in - and then take them to the Sunday School picnics - back in the '50s.
we went to GS yesterday and also came home with a car stuffed with goodies..Wasn't planning to buy anything but when someone has great prices you just can't walk away with empty car :)
You did great and got some great buys. I have a couple of old brown bowls but don't know about the red ware. It's fun to thrift shop. I made a quick trip today, too and found some 'treasures'! Happy weekend! Hugs!
Exciting to go to those sales. I don't know that much about Redware but love the look and that was a good price. It does look like a bean pot. Junior went to vet and he got 2 pills and an antibiotic. He had a temp but will feel better soon the vet said. ((Hugs))) Earlene
Que bonito post, me he paseado por tu bloc y me ha encantado, te invito a ver el mio, estamos celebrando el dia de la madre, y si te gusta y no eres seguidora espero que te hagas ahora, gracias por visitarme. FELIZ DIA DE LA MADRE💐Elracodeldetall.blogspot.com
I will search every nook & cranny at sales for treasures hiding Francine! Glad you found yours, they are all wonderful♥ I googled redware beanpot and there were a couple of images that resembled yours - any markings? ~*~Lisa
Such treasures you found.. I love the jar especially as I collect them.. smile.. I really do not know redware but love the piece anyway.. It is lovely.. Good for you.. xo
I'm worn out. Yesterday my spouse dragged me along to the one hundred mile "garage sale" in all the towns along the Mississippi River in Minnesota. Assuming a rummage sale and a garage sale are somewhat similar now....:)
You found some great stuff! I love garage sales/rummage sales. I just read TB comment...I didn't know about that sale but there is a 100 miler coming up in North Dakota in June..maybe:)
Wow Francine, what a great haul! I especially love the chair pad. I saw some of those last week but not for the amazing price you got! Good treasure hunting, J
Hi Francine, So happy you kept looking and found those treasures!!! Great eye Francine!! Love Ball jars of any size....so many uses and they look great filled with anything!! The sock stretcher is darling too...little is so special!! As to the redware, Lisa had a great idea in checking on Google. If it is marked, it helps to identify it! I have never seen a piece like that, but whether it is old or new, it is always wonderful!! Love it!!! Have a great week!! Warm Hugs~ Julie
I wish there were rummage sales in the evening here. So much better than having to get up extra early and line up outside! So glad you found some prim treasures. I know they're not the easiest things to find at sales. Especially love that red ware pot. Hope you try to make a cake in it!
