I would have no hesitation in showing my "first" hooked piece (in fact, the crow piece in my recent post "Woolie Woolens" was the only the second piece I ever hooked...), but...alas, the one I am working on now? Ummmm...not so much. Seems like I learn "in reverse." ???? Don't know.... But, truly, and seriously, each "artist" lends their own interpretation to the craft...some do it more precisely, some more rustically, etc. As the other "seasoned" experts have said, you will find your groove....and sometimes, you will need to walk away. But, if you are a true hooker, you WILL come back...and embrace your quirks. I think you're doing wonderfully. Your first one is especially reminiscent of the vintage hooked rugs that have become quite the rage!! Keep on hooking Girlfriend! I personally dont hook much on burlap anymore because its much harder for me to have much control...maybe try some monks cloth ? Seriously dear, you will get better but you really have done very well...I like your pumpkin and I love your bunny...I have been hooking for almost a decade and guess what? I still mkae mistakes and that particular day I was so frusterated that I almost chucked it....but, I just tore out the parts I didnt like and redid it and now its lovely. My advice...stick with it and you will get better and dont worry about perfection (its overrated).Margiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10240075608741922041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3601008904086214443.post-12133482241907324292012-10-01T17:22:54.692-07:002012-10-01T17:22:54.692-07:00Francine maybe you sould ask some of your hooker f...Francine maybe you sould ask some of your hooker friends to see the first pieces they did. I have so many hooking things that I started and I just put away. The more you hook the easier it becomes. I don't think my first project was ever shown to anyone!!<br />Find a piece of burlap and use it to practice. Practice turning a corner, making a swirl, getting your loop heights fairly even. After a little practice you will develop your own rhythm and technique and it will be wonderful.
